This blog post is dedicated to my mother, Dr. Tina Hou in honor of Mother's Day. She has been such a big inspiration to me when I started Honey Belle when I was 20 years old, and even now 12 years later, I see her in such a different way.
A few weeks ago, we had the incredible honor to participate on a collective mission on a humanitarian trip to Kathmandu, Nepal — a journey rooted in service, healing, and community.
Creating Impact Through Healing + Giving
With an amazing team of volunteers and the NATMA non-profit organization's medical team, we set up a medical camp that provided free healthcare services to the local community. In addition to medical support, we were able to distribute essential goods like food, shoes, and medicine to those in need. The smiles, stories, and gratitude shared during these moments were beyond words.
As a collective, there was:
-
1800+ patients served
-
1200+ pairs of shoes distributed
-
2000+ food packs donated
Dr. Mom: Healing Hands Around the World
This trip was extra special with Dr. Tina Hou (aka Dr. Mom) leading the way. Dr. Tina has been on dozens of humanitarian trips over the years, always using her healing hands and expertise to give back to underserved communities around the world. Watching her care for patients with so much heart was a powerful reminder of why this work matters.
We've attended the humanitarian trips for Cambodia 2019 and India 2020, and we registered ourselves a year prior when I was 12 weeks pregnant, but last fall when it came down to buying our plane tickets, our new baby was 2 months old and we backed out -- as we couldn't wrap our heads around how we were going to bring her with us!
Introducing Our Houlistic Stainless Steel Gua Sha (Coming Soon!)
Dr. Tina brought along our new (unreleased + coming soon) Houlistic Stainless Steel Gua Shas — using them directly on patients during treatment and gifting them to medical teams to continue their healing work long after we left. It was a beautiful moment of sharing our ancient healing practices merging with modern tools, honoring both tradition and innovation, and allowing their teams to have quality tools for their treatments.
The Power of Collective Care
What stood out most about this trip was the collective spirit of care — strangers becoming family, communities coming together, and healing happening in the most unexpected ways. This wasn’t just about donating things; it was about showing up with love, presence, and compassion.
We are endlessly grateful for the opportunity to give back beyond borders and to be part of something so much bigger than ourselves. Nepal, thank you for welcoming us with open arms and open hearts.
The work doesn’t stop here. It never does.
Stay tuned for more stories, more giving, and the official launch of our Houlistic Stainless Steel Gua Sha coming soon.
Until then, may we all continue to serve wherever we are planted.
